Histories
KENTUCKY, GALLATIN COUNTY.
Tree601J - Descendants of John Flack (b.abt 1785 Virginia or Maryland)
Most of the early action takes place in Gallatin County, Kentucky.
John and wife Nancy have (at least) 6 children:-
Margaret Flack married to William Winn.
Mary Flack married to Samuel Cox.
Jane Flack who married Samuel Winn.
Josiah Flack married to Cynthia Miller.
Amanda Flack married to Solomon Nave (and he was).
William Flack - died unmarried.

Notes - NOTES: This whole tree really started life from a couple of 'Flack Strays' I had in my 'Kentucky Strays' file.
In the 1850 census I found Josiah Flack (25) and family, plus a William Flack (who looked like a brother - from the age) in Gallatin County.
The next census entry was Nancy Flack (60) and Amanda Flack (20) who were living with Mary (Flack?) Cox and Family. Nancy Flack stayed with Mary in the 1860 census too but by 1870 Census Mary had died and Nancy was now living with her daughter Margaret (Flack) Winn.
I later found a marriage record (1832) for Margaret (Flack) Winn which proves she was a Flack and her father was called John Flack.
From everything I can see so far there was only 1 originating Flack family in the area of Gallatin County around 1850.
Census records -
In 1820 Census I just see a John A Flack (1775-1794) in Stanford, Lincoln County. I have added the census info below but it really is VERY SPECULATIVE at the moment - especialy as Lincoln County is a well know location where the 'kin' of JamesFlack/Ann Baxter lived (see my HUGE tree 618J) - I must look at that more closely later and see if I have any gaps in that family.
In the 1830 Census there is John Flack +8 (see the census breakdown below) and you can also see there is a marriage record of Margaret Flack to William WInn in 1832 where John Flack is named as her father.
Now looking at the childrens ages and where they were born:-
Margaret was born 1811 in Virginia and Mary was born1817 in Kentucky, so it seems most likely that John moved to Kentucky during that (1811-1817) period. However, I cant find him in the same Gallatin Cemetery as Josiah or William. Also Nancy isnt buried there either so maybe Nancy was taken to where John is buried - we may discover that later.
I have searched the 1840 Census but cannot find any reference to John, nor any reference to Nancy (his wife) or even Josiah (who would have been abt. 16 at that time)
I have tried alternative Flack spellings to no avail - but nothing remotely close shows up in Gallatin so I have no real idea who was living where in 1840.
Anyway - the tree seems to have gone very well at the moment and once it goes 'online' maybe somebody else may be able to add a piece to the jigsaw puzzle.
